Wedding Photography at Derwent Manor

Derwent Manor

Kirsty & Ste booked us for weddings photography at The Best Western Derwent Manor Hotel for their August wedding. We have photographed the venue before and were looking forward to them having a brilliant day. They didn’t know it at the time of booking the wedding but there was going to be a special little secret surprise to everyone on their wedding day!

Getting Ready

Kirsty was getting ready at the hotel as everyone had stayed over the night before so she had all her family and bridesmaids with her including her two daughters Jodie and Megan. They were all having hair and makeup done when we arrived and everyone was very excited even though there was a hint of a hangover. Not for the bride though who was fresh as a daisy!

The kids were getting excited to get dressed and Kirsty was ready to get into her beautiful wedding dress. With her jewellery and shoes added she looked the perfect bride!
Kirsty’s dad came to the room looking very sharp in a full kilt suit, he was there ready to walk her down the aisle and looked very proud of his daughter.

The Ceremony

The guests were all in their seats waiting for the arrival of the bridal party. The room looked amazing with peach chair sashes, and there is a huge chandelier in the centre of the room which makes a stunning feature in any wedding pictures.

Ste was at the front with his best man and friends for support, he was looking a little nervous! The bridesmaids and flower girls were the first to enter the room looking gorgeous, and the younger ones did a great job, and then it was time for Kirsty to come down the stairs and walk down the aisle with her father.

The couple made their vows to each other and exchanged wedding rings, Ste managed to accidentally pull Kirsty’s veil out! The groom got to kiss his beautiful bride and Kirsty was clearly over the moon to be Mrs Paisley! There was a lot of emotion all around.
After the formalities of signing the register were done and few had a few shots with the register then everyone headed through to the bar area and outside for the family photos
We did a big group shot first then some smaller family as there was a pretty area there which made a great backdrop. The wind chose that time to join us so it was a little bit tricky especially for the guys in kilts! We try to keep the family formals brief but get all the important family group shots the bride and groom would like. The room was then being changed round ready for the meal so this was a great opportunity to get the couples portraits done while the guests hit the bar!

The Romantic Couple’s Photographs

We stole the couple away for a little bit to take some stunning wedding portraits outdoors around the grounds. This is a great time to have your couple’s photos done as guests were happy mingling and chatting to each so at this point of the day they won’t miss the bride and groom not being there for a little while.

We had some shots with the countryside in the background and used some of the buildings as background as they were stone walls and looked great with some of our props! You can tell this couple are so happy together- it shows in the pictures. They had a great time posing for their photos despite them being a bit nervous, the light looked amazing with all the sunshine we had!

The Speeches

We headed back the room where the ceremony was held room, which had undergone a transformation and was set ready for the meal.
It was time for the speeches! Kirsty’s dad had every laughing and crying with a wonderful and well thought out speech. The groom took his turn next and said a few words and then he was able to let out his big surprise! The guests had no idea what was coming but Ste proudly announced that Kirsty was expecting a baby! So she was excused from the drinking for the day! Everyone was clearly over the moon for the couple and pleased to be let in on the surprise.
The best man had a tough act to follow after that but still managed to give a great speech too!

We then took a break to let everyone enjoy their meal and we could recharge ourselves ready for the evening!

Party time!

After the meal, the room was then being changed again ready for the evening
We took advantage of a beautiful sunset and ran outside with the couple for a few extra shots as the sky looked so pretty and colourful!

The DJ was set up and the room ready for the party to begin! The cake was cut then Mr and Mrs Paisley took to the dance floor for their first dance as husband and wife. We set off one of our fun confetti cannons (please let us know if you want us to supply one of these for your first dance! They make amazing first dance pictures!) to add something a bit extra to the photos, and it was lovely to see Jodie and Megan join in the dance too.

Then the party got going with lots of dancing- due to the Scottish family ties there were a few songs that were played that got everyone up dancing in a big circle which looked great in shots from the balcony. Everyone was having a brilliant time and the party was still going strong when we left!

We think they had a fabulous day. We hope they like their photos as much as we do! Thanks to Kirsty & Ste for choosing us to photograph their wedding day and letting us be a part of it we had a fabulous day!

We wish you all the best for the future together!

UPDATE– We have also heard that Kirsty has given birth to a beautiful baby girl whom they have name Abbie. Well done to you all- congratulations. Ste is now officially outnumbered with girls in the household!
